British High Commission Nigeria Recruits LE III Operations Room Security Officers (4 Positions)


The British High Commission in Abuja has the following vacancies in its Security Department. The British High Commission is recruiting 4 x Security Officers to work in its Operations Room.


Job Title: LE III Operations Room Security Officers (X4)

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties, including supervision of the contracted guard force:

1.) Transport and Staff Movements
Monitor, control and log all transport movements and act as the point of contact for staff and drivers when travelling on official duty outside of Abuja.
To provide security briefings to all drivers, staff and escorts before departure.
Administer sections of the transport fleet including tasking and maintenance schedules.
Maintain a narrative for all travel outside of Nigeria reporting compliance failures to Line Management.
2.) Radio Communications
To monitor the internal radio network conducting checks with locations and staff on nominated dates.
To be responsible for reporting identified faults on the radio network.
3.) Information Collation/Distribution:
Monitor media and press reporting for security/crime incidents within Nigeria, maintaining a State by State Log.
Distribute daily criminal/security incident updates.  Disseminate security messages to staff.
4.) Compound Security
To quality assure the contracted guard services at office and residential compounds by conducting daily visits.  Ensure that the guarding company are keeping high standards and monitor Key Performance Indicators.
Requirements
The High Commission is looking for candidates with previous security, police or military experience, who have a proven ability to work effectively without the need for constant supervision, maintaining flexibility and initiative in performance.
The successful candidate must possess an excellent command of English oral and written communication, excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage their time effectively.  Strong interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people is necessary.
Previous experience of working in an operational security environment is important too, particularly in the use of radio communications and correct radio procedures.
Candidates must have good keyboard skills, and familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential.
Candidates must be in possession of a current driving license and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
The positions advertised will be conducted on a shift basis and applicants will be expected to work some nights and weekends.
Remuneration
The job will be graded LEIII with a starting monthly gross salary of N 287,490.00 including allowances. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary. The salary will be paid Naira.

LE IV Invoice/Purchasing Assistant at British High Commission

The British High Commission abuja among all we are responsible for activities in education, English language, governance, science and the arts.

The British High Commission is recruiting to fill the below position:

Job Title: LE IV Invoice/Purchasing Assistant


Location: Abuja


Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties, reporting to the Head of Procurement at the High Commission:
Invoicing: Responsible for the preparation and distribution of invoices for staff, Other Government Departments and visitors at Post. Prepare and maintain spread sheets to capture invoicing models used to capture various costs. Act as the main contact person with our telecommunication suppliers. Maintain Invoice database records and any other miscellaneous billing required.
Requisitioning & Receiving: Collect local requisitions, verify approval and charging codes. Raise requisitions on the system and follow up with buyers to ensure purchase orders are raised before goods are purchased or services rendered. Receive goods physically and on the system, making corrections when necessary. Maintain a register of goods/ services received and collect deliveries from the bag room.
Purchasing: Liaise with local suppliers to submit quotations and draft quotation summary for supplies. Ensure deliveries are made in time and check that they meet requisition specification. Ensure all received invoices have current bank details and invoice numbers are not duplicated before passing to accounts for payment.
Bill Tracking: Update Invoice database regularly to reflect invoices that have been cleared. Print out invoice unpaid list for accounts when requested to enable debtors pay bills. Send emails to debtors with outstanding bills. Update spread sheet to track invoices to all Other Government Departments on a monthly basis.
Store keeping/ General Management Assistant: Maintain a store of mobile phones and SIM cards and a spread sheet to monitor stock levels ensuring constant availability. Issue phones, Sims and top up credit on request. Provide General assistance with organising Management functions.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a BSc/HND in Accounting or Purchasing and Supply,
Previous experience of working in an office environment is important too.
Good keyboard skills and familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential.
Have previous accounting and procurement experience,
Be a self-starter with proven ability to work effectively without  the need for constant supervision,
have a  proactive and strategic approach to work, maintaining flexibility and initiative in performance.
Must possess an excellent command of English oral and written communication,
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage their time effectively. 
A commitment to excellent customer service delivery, strong interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people is necessary.
Remuneration
N 194,897.00 including allowances.

British Council Recruits Programme / Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The British Council in Nigeria has been contracted by the UK’s Department for International Development to manage the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP). The British Council works in partnership with International Alert and with Social Development Direct.

The implementation phase of this five year programme has now started.

The British Council is now looking for suitably qualified individuals to complement the existing team and to fill the following posts

Responsibilities:
The successful implementation of specified projects and ensuring client, corporate and programme standards are fully met.

Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant at British Council Nigeria

Job Title: Nigeria - Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant   

Project name: M&E framework for NTTI  

Objectives:
Create an M&E framework that drives data demand and use; where data results collected and reported are relevant and could be used to demonstrate success to partners thereby leading to increased partnerships. Aim to use this to increase, promote and support impact evaluation at the end of the project; advance organisational learning, provide evidence-based results; embed results-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation process, and influence decision making.

Duties:
Scope and Scale: Two objectives:

Create a detailed Monitoring and Evaluation framework for Nigerian Teacher Training Initiative (NTTI) project
Specifically, the M&E framework should have and address valid impact evaluation questions
Outputs expected include:

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework Nigerian Teacher Training Initiative (NTTI) project that includes detailed impact and evaluation processes
Address Impact Evaluation (IE) in M&E framework
Tools, templates for data/results collection, collation, storing, reporting and communication
Competencies
Individual or research/consultancy organisations interested in this project must have the following skills and competencies:

Key

Experience in evaluation of education related projects. Experience in evaluation of Teacher Training programme is an advantage. Sample work may be required prior to interview.
Others

Knowledge of Cost-effectiveness, Value for Money and Impact Assessment
Sample work may be required
Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa/developing countries
Experience working with internal evaluators and programme manager for a large portfolio delivered in more than five (5) countries; preferred
Ability to write concise, analytical, easily understood reports
Excellent writing and verbal communication in English
