VTR and Vision Mixing Operator, Master Control (MCR)

Channels TV urgently seeks a VTR and Vision Mixing Operator in the Master Control Room of its Headquarters in Lagos.

Position Type: Full Time

Job Description:

-The Master Control Operator will be responsible for performing all on-air operations to include but not limited to recording, downloading, uploading and editing of all on-air programming and commercial material in a live news programme.
- Operate all control room equipment associated with a typical live news programme .
- Monitor and maintain the quality, continuity and availability of multiple networks and distribution channels in a live and non-live environment.
- Monitors video and audio quality and signal availability using waveform monitors, meters and other test and monitoring equipment.
-Prepare and maintain sports, news programmes and associated database for on-air.
-Maintains programmes and break continuity.
-Operate on-air branding and news.
- Capture and encoding of content related to on-air schedules.
- Assists media operations group in the recording and storage of content feeds.
-Manages deployment and retrieval of playlists and as-run files, and monitors commercial insertion system.
-Integrates live and previously recorded program content with commercial and promotional spots.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

-Must have a College Diploma or University Degree in an associated field.
-Must have a minimum of five (5) years work experience in this field.
-Must have knowledge and experience in IT.
-Must be experienced in television broadcast, cable programming and network.
-Must have the ability to work under pressure.
-Must be proficient with computers and MS office software.
-Must be able to work any scheduled time, including nights, weekends and holidays to support the 24×7 on-air broadcasts

Eligible candidates applying for this position must be able to live and work in Lagos State Nigeria for a minimum fixed term of one year or more.

Job Title: Producer (Talk Your Own)

Job Duties
The position are Abuja based but may involve traveling to the focal states in Nigeria. The contract duration is expected to be one year with a start date of January 2013 and a probation period of 3 months
Talk Your Own is a new weekly magazine programme produced by Sec Media Action. Each programme Will cover governance issues ins exciting and contemporary style with the voices of those directly involved in national governance events, to provide listeners with a concise round-up of all the main governance Issues and to provide a forum for listeners to hold those responsible to account.
The Producer Will join the team working on Talk Your Own magazine programme. They will work alongside other teams across genres including. Magazine, Debate and Drama. The emphasis of the job is very much on storytelling and creativity as well as on craft and production skills.
Carry out extensive research, gathering ideas for programme items, finding appropriate contributors along with new and archive material.
Take part in creative development sessions - coming up with original ideas and building on existing ideas.
Develop skills in content production across all platforms (radio, online,social media) and brief presenters anti contributors.
Operate technical equipment intended for self-operation - ( audio recording equipment, online editing etc).
Develop an understanding of audiences, and how different programmes respond to different audience needs.
Ensure that all programme material is completed, ready for transmission or distribution, in accordance with the agreed schedule.
Prepare Production reports;
Requirements
Ability to create original ideas arid tell compelling stories and analyse information and find the engaging stories.
A resilient, flexible arid adaptable approach in the face of rapidly changing circumstances and shifts and ability to work well with colleagues and a diverse range of contacts.
Demonstrate creativity with programme formats. And strong interest in working across a number of different media platforms (radio, online,TV)

Job Title: Media Resource Officer

Job Duties
The position are Abuja based but may involve traveling to the focal states in Nigeria. The contract duration is expected to be one year with a start date of January 2013 and a probation period of 3 months
Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Department the incumbent will support the BBC Media Action External Relations Department In maintaining a Database of all Partner Stations, EEC Media Action distribution and monitoring processes in an efficient manner, relevant to all the operations of the organization. Ensuring all outputs get to media partner stations and monitor the airing of the outputs at the scheduled times.
Create & maintain a databank of monitors for the BBC Medla Action’s outputs. And update information from partner stations Info the databank;
Work regularly with members of the Training, Research & Production/creative teams to update databank;
Create and maintain a list of independent monitors;
Create and regularly update database for all 860 Media Action partner station related activities i.e. list of equipment, training, programmes. etc
Maintain and update the SEC Media Action Summary Sheet on Training for each project. This will reflect the states, zones and partner stations where training was conducted;
Maintain the BBC Media Action internal Data hub.
1.) Monitoring Duties
Supervise Zonal Monitoring Officers
Daily and weekly monitoring of programmes (by BBC Media Action and partner stations);
Update all monitoring information/feedback from above into databank; Provide weekly update on programmes sent to Line Manager
Weekly reporting of alt monitoring activities to Line Manager (including project specific information);
Provide regular feedback from the monitors on the EEC Media Action’s outputs on a

Listen back to Programme Master copies from Production before passing on to Operations;
Work with the assigned logistics officer from Operations to ensure distribution of
outputs to partner stations;
Provide and deliver documentation to Operation’s Department for the duplication of outputs to be sent to the partner stations and inspect finished packages from Operation prior to pick up by courier and follow-up dispatch
Follow up with partner station contacts on broadcast of outputs
3.) Information Sourcing
Source for and share information relevant to enhancing all BBC Media Action partnerships
4.) Project Management Training Support
Support Project Management and Training unit in conducting Recce to partner stations
Support the Training unit in conducting Media Forum
Requirements
A good first degree in Management Sciences, Social Sciences or in any related field.
Any Broadcast Media/Production Experience or related field is desirable.
Fluency in spoken and written English;
Strong communication and Interpersonal skills;
Possess good public, service oriented personality and human relations skills:
Ability to work with minimum supervision, take initiative arid make sound judgment whit maintaining a team players spirit
Ability to multitask and deliver promptly
Excellent IT skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work in steam and in a multicultural environment;
Result oriented and commitment to excellence.
Transparent judgment and decision matting.
Good knowledge of database management, spreadsheet, Corel draw and other Microsoft office applications is essential.

Will support the Training Department in maintaining Training activities in an efficient manner relevant to all the operations of the BBC Media Action.
Will assist Trainers in conducting research into relevant thematic areas for training activities, assist in all training related production as well as in developing and maintaining training calendars
Support the Media Resource Officer in the distribution of outputs to partner stations
Monitor all Media Action outputs that are broadcast on all partner stations, monitor outputs from trainees on partner stations and work with CSO5 in monitoring outputs from Project specific partner stations
Recruit end maintain a list of Independent Monitors
Support the Media Resource officer in maintaining and updating all BBC Media Action partnership database, support in maintaining and updating trainee and station details.
Support the Media Resource officer in maintaining and updating the individual files of cacti partner station where training has been conducted.

Requirements

Job Title: Personal Assistant to the Country Director

Job Duties
The position are Abuja based but may involve traveling to the focal states in Nigeria. The contract duration is expected to be one year with a start date of January 2013 and a probation period of 3 monthsReporting to the Country Director, the successful candidate will provide. Administrative back-up and support to the Country Director and the Management Team;

1.) Administrative Support Functions
Plan, organize. manege, and supervise the day-to-day running office of the Country Director towards meeting objectives;
Maintain, manage and follow upon CD’s Calendar of activities, screen and monitor visitors and Incoming calls;
Serve as primary point of contact, clawing house of information and correspondence emanating from the Country Directors office;
Maintain list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of partners/partner stations, government officials, the private sector, the diplomatic corps and donor Agencies in Nigeria;
Prepare administrative briefs with background information, general correspondence and meeting papers for the CD;
Send reminders on scheduled meetings to the CD and Senior Management Team; Arrange and coordinate support for meetings (seminars / workshops for the projects, the CD. arid where necessary take minutes of such meetings;
Maintain Country Director’s confidential, policy, project end general files;
2.) Project / Programme Support Function
Maintain routine correspondence as may be directed by the CD with Headquarters. partners and donor organizations on project activities;
Assist in preparation, collation, and submission of quarterly and annual reports to donor agencies and partners In collaboration with Project Managers; Prepare background documents and assist the CD In preparing briefs for discussions/meetings with Donor, Government, Partners on country programming and project formulation;
Establish and maintain organizational and professional contacts with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, partners and donors;
Requirements
A good first degree in Organizational Secretarial Administration, Personnel Management, Business or Public Administration, English. the Social Sciences or any other relevant field.
