International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Young Innovators Competition 2013

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is looking for the next Generation of Social "Technopreneurs" young people aged between 18 and 26 with an inspirational ICT-based solution to developmental challenges. Ten winning finalists will be selected to attend ITU Telecom World 2013 in Bangkok, taking part in workshops, pitching sessions, mentoring and networking, plus receiving seed funding of up to USD 10,000 per project.

Scholarships for International Students in UK, 2013/14

University of Ulster is inviting applications for scholarships for international students to study postgraduate master’s or undergraduate in any subject offered by the university for the 2013-14 academic year. A total of 5 Santander scholarships (to study in Northern Ireland), three open scholarships, one Ulster final year international scholarship and one Ulster/Chinese partner scholarship (for a student from one of Chinese partner institutions) are available to students. Each Scholarship has a value of £5,000 and will be awarded for one academic year.

All Souls College, University of Oxford offers Visiting Fellowships for pursuing research program at Oxford in UK. 4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. A knowledge of the Foreign language of the donor country is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.

B. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificate (WAEC or NECO) only in the subjects relevant to their field of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Three (3) years old (2010 – 2012). Applicants who by October 2013 will be in 300 Level and above in any Tertiary Institution need not apply. Age limit is 23 years
NOTE (For all Applicants): Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.

5.0 VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues nearest to them as scheduled for their respective states of origin. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:

PTDF Scholarship Scheme 2013/2014 for MSc and PhD and Undergraduate Programmes


The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the manpower needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.


Our mission therefore is to train Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the field of engineering, geology, science and management in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria or abroad. We have a vision to serve not only as a vessel for the development of indigenous manpower and technology transfer/acquisition in the petroleum industry but also to make Nigeria a human resource centre for the West African sub-region.

PTDF Undergratduate / Postgraduate( MSc and PhD ) Scholarship Programme 2013 / 2014

To ensure a steadfast implementation of this mandate, PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in the 2013/2014 academic session in the United Kingdom and France (Grenoble INP) and upgraded Universities in Nigeria for the 2013/2014 session. However, the Undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only on subject areas listed below.

Application Forms can be accessed online using an ATM card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc  in all the States and FCT, upon payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

Applicants may please note that only those who meet the requirements below shall be shortlisted and invited for Electronic Aptitude Test, in the case of Master’s, while oral interview will be conducted for PhD (full time) on dates to be announced later. Following the aptitude tests and interview, the best qualified candidates will be selected and awarded the PTDF Scholarship.

PTDF however wishes to inform applicants that the Overseas Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a short term measure to address identified skills gaps, pending the outcome of the various capacity building efforts being made to enable our domestic universities effectively handle the onerous task of grooming qualitative professionals in the oil and gas related disciplines. With the numerous upgrade programmes executed by the Fund in some Federal Universities in Nigeria, emphasis has shifted to training Nigerians in-country. Consequently, only a limited number of candidates will be sponsored overseas and the rest in Nigerian Universities listed below.

i.  Minimum of Upper Credit at the Diploma level
ii. Minimum of 10 points in interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) examination.
iii. Minimum of 8 points at the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (G.C.E).

2.) MSc (Overseas)
A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience
National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate
Applicants must be computer literate
Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language in WAEC/SSCE (C6) or NECO (C4);
Applicants must not be above 30 years of age
Applicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply
i.       Test of English  as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
ii.      G.R.E ( Graduate Record Examination)
iii.     GMAT –for Management related courses
iv.     International English Language Testing System (IELTS)


3.) PhD
Applicants must be in the academics in Nigerian Institutions, teaching an oil and gas related discipline;
Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a good second degree certificate;
Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;
 Applicants must include a valid admission letter;
Applicants must not be over 40 years of age; and;
Applicants must include their masters degree project

Eligibility

1.) Undergraduate, HND & NCE Scholarship
All applicants should be registered full–time students in their second year or above in recognized Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. They should also obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

2.) Postgraduate Scholarship
Applicants must be registered full–time students of recognized Federal and State owned universities and must have a minimum of second class Honors (upper division) in 1st degrees.

Job Description
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except as otherwise stated by statute.
The Registrar is also the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
Qualification and Experience
To qualify to be appointed for the post of Registrar, the candidate, preferably a Baptist, must have a minimum of masters degree in the humanities, social sciences or law with at least 10 years post first degree relevant experience in University Administration or similar institution, and shall be between the ages of 40 and 50 years.
Membership of recognized professional bodies such as NIPM, NIM, ANUPA will be added advantage.
Requirements
The Candidate must be a team player with good leadership qualities to inspire and motivate a crop of administrative officers.
He/She must command respect, be ready to instill confidence and relate with subordinates.
The candidate must have high integrity, innovativeness and moral standard in tandem with the vision and mission of Bowen University and must be ICT (Information and Communication Technology) compliant.

4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. A knowledge of the Foreign language of the donor country is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.

B. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificate (WAEC or NECO) only in the subjects relevant to their field of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Three (3) years old (2010 – 2012). Applicants who by October 2013 will be in 300 Level and above in any Tertiary Institution need not apply. Age limit is 23 years
NOTE (For all Applicants): Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.

5.0 VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues nearest to them as scheduled for their respective states of origin. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:
Two authenticated photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonial
Only one Certificate will be accepted ie WAEC or NECO
Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC or NECO and forwarded to the Director/ Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja.
Two copies of Birth Certificate.
State of Origin Certificate duly signed, stamped and dated.
Eight (8) passport sized colour photographs on white background
Medical Certificate of Fitness including HIV /AIDS, and Hepatitis B free Certificates obtained from a Teaching Hospital, General Hospital or National Hospital, Abuja.
Police Clearance Certificate including finger prints from the Police Station nearest to Place of Residence
Data page of current International Passport, and
Academic transcripts and NYSC certificate will be required from applicants for postgraduate studies.
Original documents should be presented at the interview venues for sighting.
