Examinations Officer (Schools) at British Council

The British Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the organization as Examinations Officer.

Job Title: Examinations Officer (Schools)

Location: Lagos

Purpose of job:
To support Examination Services in Nigeria in delivering Schools exams and to maintain them at the highest professional standards as set out in the British Council’s EQS (Examination Quality Standards), examinations boards and partners.

Context and Environment:

Nigeria Exams is the largest British Council exams business in the Sub Saharan Africa region. It administers exams in four subject areas: Schools, Professional/Vocational, Educational on behalf of UK institutions and IELTS.

The post holder will be part of a team of 4 in Lagos who administer the growing Schools Exams business ensuring quality and compliance as well as control of income and expenditure to deliver on target. Delivery will be in Lagos with approximately two sittings per year. This role will support the delivery of exams in Abuja and Port Harcourt, in addition to other administrative duties.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
As Schools Exams Officer, the post holder will be line managed by the Schools Examinations Manager, Nigeria.
This role will support delivery of Schools Examinations administered form the Lagos office.
All administrative procedures are in full compliance with Examination boards, Partners and EQS standards.

Reliability: to ensure examinations are delivered securely according to board requirements

Quality and Compliance: to deliver a high standard of customer service to our schools and their candidates. As measured by our own Exams Quality Standards, Customer Service Standards, and inspection visits from Cambridge International Exams and other examination boards as required.

Finance:
all British Council standards for managing finances are met with relation to income reconciliations, cash handling, managing POs, managing contracts and procurement.

Requirement
Secondary School education up to ‘A’ Level standard
A qualification in examinations management.
Dealing with customers and enquiries in a service environment.
Providing and monitoring service within quality standards.
Working quickly and accurately to tight deadlines.
Experience of handling and reporting on payments from customers.
Experience of delivering examinations in a timely and secure manner.

Qualifications and Experience

i. Professor (WUCASS 07)
Candidates must possess Ph.D from a recognized University with at least 12 years of Teaching. Research and Professional experience in a University. Should show ability to initiate and develop research projects in addition to having substantial scholarly publications in local and international journals and relevant administrative experience in working with interdisciplinary groups.
Suitable candidates must have attained the position of Senior lecturer or Reader in a recognized University.
He/she must have the capacity to provide academic and managerial leadership to upcoming colleagues and be able to attract research grant. Computer literacy is an essential requirement.
Final consideration for appointment will be made after positive reports on the external assessment of publications after interview.

ii. Reader (WUCASS 06)
Qualification is the same as in (i) above with at least 10 years of teaching experience in a recognized University.
Suitable candidate must have attained the position of Senior lecturer. Computer literacy is an essential requirement.

iii. Senior Lecturer (WUCASS 05)
Qualification is the same as in (i) above with at least 8 years of teaching experience in the University.
Candidates for Senior Lectureship must demonstrate evidence of teaching in a University or an institution of similar standing and contribution to knowledge in the form of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
Candidates must have spent a minimum of two years as a Lecturer I. Computer literacy is an important requirement.

iv. Lecturer I (WUCASS 04)
Candidates must possess Ph.D from a recognized institution with at least 5 years of teaching experience.
Candidates for Lecturer I must demonstrate evidence of teaching in a University or an Institution of similar standing and contribution to knowledge in the form of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
Candidates with PhD must have spent a minimum of two years as a Lecturer lI. Computer literacy is an important requirement.

v. Lecturer II (WUCASS 03)
Qualification is the same as in (iv) above with at least 3 years of Post Qualification experience. Computer literacy is an essential requirement.

vi. Assistant Lecturer (WUCASS 02)

Academics Staff Qualifications and Other Requirements

Professor/Reader
Ph.D with at least 10 years post qualification experience for Professorship and 8 years post qualification experience for Readership in University teaching and research in the relevant fields. Candidates must have outstanding record of scholarly publications along with evidence of considerable reaching and research, demonstrable capacity for academic leadership, as well as proficiency in ICT. Lecturer II
A candidate to be appointed as lecturer II shall normally possess a PhD, in addition to possessing at least a Second Class Honors (Upper Division) Degree in the relevant field. A candidate who has an M.Phil. qualification may be appointed as Lecturer II provided the candidate has a substantial number of publications as well as adequate teaching experience in the University.

Remuneration
Salary Packages: Salary and allowances which are personal and negotiable are higher than Federal Government consolidated unitary salary structure. Salary increment is based on productivity and contribution to the development of the University. The university also offers additional beneficial packages to staff.

Retirement and Pension Scheme: The University operates a contributory Pension Fund as enacted by the Act of the National Assembly. It is mandatory to for all staff to take part in the contributory pension scheme.
The University shall pay 7½ percent of the staff’s monthly basic salary to the peision fund while the statf shall pay 7½ percent towards the fund.
 A staff shall not be hindered by the University from drawing from the pension scheme.

Lead City University Post UTME Screening for 2012/2013 Academic Session


Lead City University, Ibadan (www.lcu.edu.ng), a private University approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria, in 2005, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admissions into the following Senate approved Programmes of the University.


Requirements:

NewLand School, Lagos is recruiting to fill the vacant positions of: Class Teachers, Science Teacher, and Learning Support Teacher. Qualified Applicants should apply immediately.

Qualification
B.Ed. /B.Sc.Ed. or B.A/B.Sc. with post graduate diploma in Education with at least 3-5 years teaching experience

3.) Learning Support Teacher

Qualification
B.Ed. in Special Education with 3-5 years cumulative experience as a special needs teacher

General Requirement
All applicants must have:
Experience with the British Curriculum
Excellent English Written and Communication Skills
Be able to demonstrate the use of ICT to support teaching and learning
Excellent Classroom Management Skills
Be committed to their own Professional Learning
