Job Title: Deputy Chief of Party

Job Responsibilities
The DCOP shall be responsible for the daily technical activities and implementation of the program, and will serve as the principal point of contact for procedural and substantive matters in the absence of the COP.

Requirements
The DCOP must possess:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field;
At least seven (7) years experience in implementing development activities in the area of democracy and governance, with a preference for previous experience with a U.S. government contracting mechanism.
At least three years demonstrated experience in a senior program management role including direct supervision of professional and support staff.
An in depth understanding of the role of civil society in democracy building and development and previous experience incapacity building for CSOs and coalitions.
Prior experience in awarding and managing grants to local organizations to promote democracy and governance goals.

Academics Staff Qualifications and Other Requirements

Professor/Reader
Ph.D with at least 10 years post qualification experience for Professorship and 8 years post qualification experience for Readership in University teaching and research in the relevant fields. Candidates must have outstanding record of scholarly publications along with evidence of considerable reaching and research, demonstrable capacity for academic leadership, as well as proficiency in ICT. Candidates are expected to be registered with the various recognized professional bodies as applicable.

Senior Lecturer
Ph.D with at least 6 years post-qualification cognate experience supported with a suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.

Lecturer I
Ph.D with at least 4 years teaching and research experience along with a suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.

Lecturer II
A candidate to be appointed as lecturer II shall normally possess a PhD, in addition to possessing at least a Second Class Honors (Upper Division) Degree in the relevant field. A candidate who has an M.Phil. qualification may be appointed as Lecturer II provided the candidate has a substantial number of publications as well as adequate teaching experience in the University.

Remuneration
Salary Packages: Salary and allowances which are personal and negotiable are higher than Federal Government consolidated unitary salary structure. Salary increment is based on productivity and contribution to the development of the University. The university also offers additional beneficial packages to staff.

Retirement and Pension Scheme: The University operates a contributory Pension Fund as enacted by the Act of the National Assembly. It is mandatory to for all staff to take part in the contributory pension scheme.
The University shall pay 7½ percent of the staff’s monthly basic salary to the peision fund while the statf shall pay 7½ percent towards the fund.
 A staff shall not be hindered by the University from drawing from the pension scheme.
