GE is recruiting to fill the below position of:

Job Title: Welder

Location: Onne, Nigeria

Role Summary/Purpose:
The Welder is responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Set up welding equipment
  • Fabricate & weld equipment to a high standard,adhering to HSEQ policies and prosedures in a timely manner with attention to the work order routings
  • Basic repair and troubleshoot of welding power source and weld head
  • Set up and control of internal purge pressure
  • Inspect weld, measure and ensure it meets specification
  • Fill out weld logs and quality documentation
  • Maintain a hazard free and tidy work area
  • Maintain accurate traceability records for all fabrications
  • Ensure timely and full handover to the appropriate person on the next shift
  • Participate in continual improvement for safety, quality and throughput.
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical option) or related disciplines/certifications.
  • A minimum of 4 years cognate experience in Oil & Gas industry
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and engineering part specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret Welding Procedures and Qualifications
  • Process experience: Submerged arc (SAW), SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW
  • High level of EHS awareness with certification in slinging and lifting, abrasive wheels, manual handling and forklift
  • Ability to work well on own as well as part of a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in TIG welding process, knowledge of socket welds is desirable
  • Experience in working with stainless steel is desirable
  • Knowledge of fabrication and production processes
  • Set up with clamps and manipulate into position weld joint
  • Good Customer Relations
  • Planning & Organisation skills
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions
  • Team Work
