Package Engineer at Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited


Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited (SCNL) is a subsidiary of SAIPEM S.PA., a global leader in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Project Management in the Energy Sector. Due to increasing workload and expansion of our offshore activities in Nigeria, we are seeking for highly qualified, pro-active, fast learning, well organized and motivated Personnel to reinforce our team.

Job Title: Package Engineer (PKG01)

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical tasks assigned by the Package Lead.
  • Support discipline Lead in the activity with Project functions including Procurement and Construction.
  • Define equipment and process requirements, prepare technical tabulations of bids from Vendors, check documentations as per project requirements and participate in package integration.
  • Follow all Project interlaces, supervise in/out information flow and control technical activities performed by subcontractors and vendors.
  • Analyze work/project schedule to check that for the given package tasks, duration and sequence (inquiry preparation, PC placement, fabrication schedule, transportation) are realistic and meet construction milestone.
  • Coordinate and supervise all technical and follow up activities until delivery of package according to schedule.
  • Support Lead to review contractual technical documentation and requirements.
  • Support Lead in defining engineering requirements.
  • Interface with other disciplines and optimize systems to ensure cost minimization and simplification of packages activities.
  • Prepare the technical documentation for requisitions (supply specific, data sheets, calculations etc., where requested).
  • Support Lead in technical negotiation with vendors and control subcontracted discipline engineering documents.
  • Prepare technical evaluation and technical tabulation for vendor technical alignment.
  • Check and sign all vendor drawings in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Attend internal review activities and participate in inter- discipline check meetings (where required).
  • Define detail engineering activities (layouts, 3D, routings, supports...).
  • Provide support for document management and prepare final documentation book
  • Supports Discipline Lead for the definition of the Discipline construction inspection plan and for preparation of materials quantities and weights estimation, construction and start up.
  • Takes part in site supervision, inspection, testing and quality controls where necessary.
  • Split and determine the scope of work to issue tenders as well review of tenders for scope of work.
  • Ensure that engineering produced deliverables are issued in accordance with project schedule and requirements.


Required Professional Skills

  • Knowledge of basic and detailed criteria for system design and good background in chemical processes and mechanical design.
  • Must have the ability to plan Discipline engineering activities and documentation deliverables in order to meet Project schedule milestones considering design workflows and engineering interfaces with all other Project Disciplines and functions.
  • Knowledge of Discipline engineering design criteria, methods and workflows from conceptual phase up to site engineering phase.
  • Must have the ability to perform and coordinate Project engineering documents production activities and to check and review design documents, prepared either internally or by Vendors.
  • Ability to estimate Discipline Work Orders and Bid Projects engineering man-hours budget based on the Project quantities and scope of work according to corporate standards, procedures, methods and tools.
  • Must be skilled in estimation ; estimate Discipline items costs budget based on Project quantities and technical requirements according to Corporate standards, procedures, methods and tools.
  • Must be able to monitor the relevant activity progress and the actual man-hours spent against the earned progress.
  • Knowledge of main international Discipline standards, codes and regulations.
  • Must be able to define technical requirements for Discipline equipment and materials workshop testing according to corporate standards, procedures, methods and tools.


Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and related field
  • More than 5 years experience in Oil and Gas industry - Offshore Platform Design and Engineering
  • Experience in Offshore Facility/Basic Engineering
  • Working knowledge in Offshore platform equipment’s/ packages such as Pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers (shell and tube, spiral, plate etc.), separators, etc
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
